Consul General Scott Rauland Visits Tobolsk |

Consul General Scott Rauland made his first official visit to the
Siberian city of Tobolsk on June 14th and 15th. Meetings were held
with Mayor Yevgeniy Vorobyev and the head of the Tyumen Oblast International
Affairs department, Victor Pupyshev. Consul General Rauland discussed
the possibility of a visit to Tobolsk by Ambassador Vershbow at
the end of September in connection with the opening of an American
Corner in Tyumen. Mayor Vorobyev gave his support for the visit
and discussed at length the economic, political, and social situation
in Tobolsk. After the meeting, a tour was arranged through the city's
Kremlin and historic downtown which included a stop at the house
where the Romanov family was held for eight months before being
sent to Yekaterinburg. Full Story... |
